Saltwater Fishing

If you are fishing in saltwater in Florida, you need to provide the following documents:

• Photo ID (Government-issued document with a photo, i.e driving license)
• USCG MMC (we have to see the photo, name of the captain, and reference number of the document)
• FWC Either a Charter Captain License or a FWC Charter Boat License issued by the FWC
• Vessel Registration/Certificate of Documentation 
• Proof of Liability Insurance 

If you fish more than 9 miles offshore in the Gulf of Mexico or 3 miles in the Atlantic Ocean, you need to provide Federal Permits issued by the NOAA. Your listing will then receive a "Federally Permitted" badge. 

Freshwater Fishing

If you are fishing in freshwater that is non-navigable, you’ll need to provide the following documents:

• Photo ID (Government-issued document with a photo, i.e driving license)
• Vessel Registration/USCG Certificate of Documentation
• Proof of Liability Insurance 

If you fish in navigable freshwater, you’ll need to provide the following documents:

• Photo ID (Government-issued document with a photo, i.e driving license)
• USCG MMC (we have to see the photo, name of the captain, and reference number of the document)
• Vessel Registration/USCG Certificate of Documentation 
• Proof of Liability Insurance

Please keep in mind that most National Parks have some sort of local license that we might require as well (i.e. Everglades National Park).

If you fish only in Federal Waters bordering Maryland state waters, you do not need a local license, your Federal Fishing Permits will be enough.

• Sport Trolling License (if targeting for Lake Trout)

• Proof of Liability Insurance 

Inland Fishing (Non-navigable Waters)

• Photo ID
• USCG MMC (we have to see the photo, name of the captain, and reference number of the document) or Inland Pilot's License
• Inland Sport Fishing Guide License (as of March 2024)
• Certificate of Inspection (Charter Boat) except for Class E boats
• Sport Trolling License (if targeting Lake Trout)
• Watercraft Registration
• Proof of Liability Insurance (mandatory)

• Lake Erie Fishing Guide License (if fishing in Lake Erie)
