When you connect your Google or Apple online calendars with FishingBooker, our system will automatically scan your availability and block the trips you can’t run. This way, customers will only be able to book trips when you’re available.

How does it work?

Every hour, Calendar Sync imports availability information from the external calendars to FishingBooker and blocks any trips that overlap with busy periods. 

It uses iCal (the standard tool for online scheduling) to import other calendars’ busy and available time slots and blocks off any overlapping trips on FishingBooker. The system only records which time slots are busy - it does not import data about customers or which trips are booked.

Calendar sync automatically happens once an hour, but to trigger a sync before that, you can press the sync button.

How do I import a new calendar?

1. Go to your Calendar 
2. Select Sync Calendars on the desktop or click on the three dots and then select Sync Calendars on the FishingBooker for Captains app. (Open your other calendar and locate the iCal link, usually found in the settings. Here's where you can find it on Apple.
3. Click Import calendar 
4. Copy the URL from your external calendar into the Public calendar address field.
5. Name the calendar you’re importing
6. Click Import calendar
   • If you have more than one listing, choose which listing(s) this calendar should sync with
7. Choose in which events and circumstances the trip should be blocked:
   • To block every trip that overlaps with any part of your external events, choose Another event that overlaps with part of the trip
   • To only block trips that fully overlap with your external events, choose Another event that overlaps with the full trip
8. Click Save

You can remove a synced calendar by clicking the three dots to the right of the calendar name and selecting “Remove.”

How do I edit a calendar?

You can edit which FishingBooker listing the calendar applies to, and the trip overlap settings by:

1. Clicking the three dots to the right of the calendar you want to stop syncing. 
2. Clicking "Edit".

How do I remove a calendar?

1. Click the three dots to the right of the calendar if you want to stop syncing. 
2. Click "Remove".

While the calendar has now been removed from FishingBooker’s records, it can be added again at any time by setting up calendar sync.

How do I unblock a day that's blocked by Calendar Sync?

You can edit the calendar as you normally would reopen trips blocked by calendar sync. These are the steps:

1. Turn on "Custom" availability.
2. Make the trip you want customers to book "available." 
3. Click Save.

Once a "synced" trip has been made available, it will stay that way until it's booked unless it's manually blocked again. This edit will override any future calendar syncs that affect this trip on this date.

How to check if your Calendar Sync is working?

The best way to check whether it's working is to enter the listing's calendar and see if the expected trips are blocked by calendar sync. If all the trips in a single day are blocked by calendar sync, it will show up as unavailable due to synced calendar.

Can External Calendars Sync With Multiple Listings?

All published listings will appear in the "Sync with" dropdown when a calendar is imported. Select all the listings, and they'll all get blocked with the same availability.
